My breathing is getting shallower, faster, until I hyperventilate.
The tingling starts in the center of my cheeks, then spreads throughout my entire face.
Hands shaking, I attempt to punch the number in phone. It takes 3 tries.
Tears silently stream down my face
.
I hit the send button. Time stops. I want this moment to be over.
"The number you have reached is no longer in service," the disembodied female voice informs me.
Relief floods through my veins as I press the end key, drained, and sink onto the bed.
